He led the Keat Hong Chinese Orchestra overseas in its numerous
public performances in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia, and aroused overwhelming support from local audiences. He has chaired talks on Chinese Music, judged in national
music competition and also conducted several Chinese orchestras in various cities of Malaysia.Under the baton of Mr Sim ,
the plucking ensemble of the orchestra had won the First prize in the Ensemble Caterory and the Best Performer Award in the
National Music Competition for four consecutive years since 1987.
Besides being a professional performer on stage, Mr Sim is also
a composer and is well known for his composition and re-arrangements in Chinese Orchestra music .Mr Sim has composed and arranged
more than a hundred pieces of music works. Music pieces with various local ethinic flavour include Chan Mali Chan ,Munnaeru
Vaaliba and Suriram. Other works include the Magnificent Sheares Bridge and a Qing Ming Festival Memorial and Ceremony. Suriram
was selected as a representative piece of Singapore by SCO during their concert tour to the China and Taiwan in 2000. His
works are popular and very frequently played by professional orchestras, amateur orchestra and school orchestra, locally and
abroad.
