Keat Hong Chinese Orchestra was formed in 1974 and it is a cultural group under the administration of Singapore Chua Chu Kang Community Club.

Over the years, Keat Hong has strived to be one of the well known Chinese Orchestras in Singapore and has been awarded with various honours. These include; Singapore National Youth Service Award in 1983 for the outstanding performance in promoting the Chinese music; four times winner of the first prize in the National Music Competition and Best Performing Award during 1987 to 1993; National Youth Letter of Commendation in 1996.

Other than presenting regular concerts, the orchestra has been invited to participate in various major musical activities in both Singapore and overseas. In 1992, the orchestra has performed in Bangkok for The Cultural Festival In Honour of Her Majesty, The Queen of Thailand. In 1993, it has participated in the Singapore first Asia Performings and Arts Festival together with nine cultural troupes from different Asia countries. The orchestra is also often invited to accompany dance, choral singing and drama performances.

In recent years, the orchestra has actively worked with overseas Chinese Orchestras, including Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra, China ChengDu Chinese Orchestra, Taiwan TaoYuan YuehYo Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra, Malaysia Zhuan Yi Chinese Orchestra and Hua Yi Musical Association, to promote Chinese music by presenting concerts in both Singapore and overseas.
